This recipe is for an individual serving of olive and herb grain-free FAUX-caccia (fake focaccia, get it? hee hee). I cooked it in the microwave so it took less than 5 minutes to make. This fake focaccia is my own variation of "Low Carb Bun For One" from Free Range Cookies.

Several days ago, Sunflower Farmers Market asked their Twitter followers to name their favorite no-bake homemade desserts. https://twitter.com/shopsunflower/status/208621839000403968 We don't eat a lot of traditional dessert in our house - we consider fruit to be dessert and we don't even eat that every day. If you're like us but sometimes want a little something extra, I … Continue reading Easy no cook desserts
Here's a recipe I came up with a couple weeks ago. It sounds weird, but it's yummy (if you like sauerkraut). 1 egg 1/2 tsp dry yellow mustard 1/4 tsp tumeric ~1/8 tsp sea salt (to taste) 1/3 - 1/2 cup sauerkraut (preferably the kind that is still "alive" and made via lacto-fermentation, not with vinegar) … Continue reading Sauerkraut Burrito

We must have sweets on the mind over here at NBD... Maybe Easter has something to do with it? Here in the USA, we are conditioned from an early age to gorge ourselves on candy at Halloween and Easter and be "OK" with that. Now that I'm following the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, the only sweetener … Continue reading Sugar = Toxin?
I got a little overzealous this past weekend and baked up a storm. It all started with an innocent question to co-workers on Thursday afternoon. "Do you guys usually bring in treats for Valentine's Day?" I said I was thinking about baking something for my husband for Valentine's Day and I would make a little … Continue reading SCD Valentine’s Day treats
I've been reading about the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. My "random & sudden" allergies to dairy, peanuts, & chocolate actually make sense inside this paradigm. SCD also explains why rice & quinoa hurt my tummy even tho they are gluten-free. Turns out the original diet cure for celiacs was GRAIN-free, not merely gluten-free. Hmmm. More to … Continue reading The Specific Carbohydrate Diet
